Exactly what we do in each procedure

Six services that chain together: residency, ID card, RUC, bank account, documents. Each with what it includes, who it is for and how long it usually takes. No “contact us for details”.

Temporary residency

The first step for almost everyone: two years of residency (Law 6984 or MERCOSUR), with precaria status from the day of filing.

What it includes

Choice of route (general or MERCOSUR), document list, review of scans, Interpol and National Police in Asunción, notarised copies, filing with you at Migraciones and follow-up until the card.

Who it is for

Any foreigner who wants to live, work, study or simply have a legal base in Paraguay. It is a prerequisite for permanent residency.

How long it takes

3 to 5 business days in Asunción to file; the card, 30 to 90 days depending on Migraciones.

Permanent residency

The category switch at month 21 of temporary residency, or direct permanent residency if you are the spouse or child of a Paraguayan, a returnee or a SUACE investor.

What it includes

Deadline control (3 months before expiry), proof-of-means file for your category under DNM Res. 407/2026, updated record checks, filing with you and a new 10-year ID card.

Who it is for

Those who already hold temporary residency and the ID card. And those who qualify for direct permanent residency: children and spouses of Paraguayans (fee waived if married abroad), relatives of returnees and investors with a SUACE certificate.

How long it takes

Requested between months 21 and 24 of the temporary card. It is definitive; the card is renewed every 10 years.

Paraguayan ID card (cédula)

The document that unlocks everything else: RUC, bank, contracts, healthcare. We never sell it separately — it comes with the residency.

What it includes

Certificate of residence at Migraciones, proof of life and address at the police station, foreigner registration (Interpol, Sajonia), notarised copies, filing with you at Identificaciones and notice when it is ready to collect.

Who it is for

Every temporary or permanent resident. The card has the same validity as your residency: 2 years with temporary, 10 with permanent.

How long it takes

Official delivery time: up to 60 business days. Fee: Gs. 8,500. Only the holder can collect it.

RUC and tax residency

Registration with DNIT using your ID card, guidance on the territorial IRP (10%) and, when applicable, the annual tax residency certificate.

What it includes

RUC registration, explanation of obligations (VAT/IRP), and for the tax residency certificate: migration movement certificate from Migraciones and application to DNIT (RG 65/2020; issued within 10 business days, valid one year).

Who it is for

Self-employed and remote workers (note: for permanent residency, the RUC must exist months in advance), and Europeans or Americans who need to prove tax residency. Honest clarification: immigration residency is not tax residency; the certificate requires an active RUC and your migration record for the year.

How long it takes

RUC: days. Tax residency certificate: 10 business days from application, with RUC up to date.

Bank account

We go with you to open an account at a Paraguayan bank with your ID card and RUC, with the papers the bank asks for and no runaround.

What it includes

Preparation of requirements (ID card, RUC, proof of address, source of funds), accompaniment to the branch and help with online banking.

Who it is for

Anyone who will live, get paid or invest in Paraguay. Banks decide under their own policy; we bring the file the way they ask for it.

How long it takes

One visit, with the ID card and RUC in hand.

Translations and apostilles

We explain what gets apostilled in your country and arrange sworn translations in Paraguay with translators registered at the Supreme Court.

What it includes

Apostille guide by country (Hague or consular legalisation), check that the apostille covers the right signature, sworn translation of every document not in Spanish (Brazilian documents in Portuguese need none) and notarised copies.

Who it is for

Everyone from outside MERCOSUR and anyone with documents in another language. The apostille is always done in the country that issued the document: a Paraguayan apostille is not valid within Paraguay.

How long it takes

Apostilles: days to weeks depending on your country. Translations: 2 to 5 business days in Asunción.
